Understand what each user role can do so you assign the right one.
Every user in SV3 Enterprise has a role that determines what they can do in the system. Roles range from Standard User, who manages only their own visits, up to Global Admin, who manages the entire account across every Location. Assign the role that matches a person's actual responsibilities — it controls what they can see and change.
Roles are also tied to Locations. A Local Admin, Security Officer, or Receptionist only has their permissions at the Locations they're assigned to — not across the whole account. A user can hold different roles at different Locations, so a Receptionist at one building could be a Security Officer at another. Global Admin is the exception: it's account-wide by definition and isn't scoped to a single Location.
Role functions
| User Role | Functions |
|---|---|
| Standard User | Schedule visitors for self; cancel a scheduled visit |
| Receptionist | Schedule a visitor for all users at the Location; check visitors in and out; run visitor reports; view the Watchlist (view-only) |
| Security Officer | Schedule a visitor for all users at the Location; check visitors in and out; run visitor reports; add visitors to the Watchlist; approve or deny pending Watchlist visitors |
| Local Admin | All Security Officer functions; manage Location Summary, Visit Types, Kiosks, and Options/Emails for the Location; manage Users for the Location |
| Global Admin | All Local Admin functions, across every Location; manage Kiosk Themes, Documents, and Integrations |
Global Admin and hosting
The Global Admin role is administrative and technical. A Global Admin can't be the host of a visit. If a Global Admin wants to host visits, they need to assign themselves an additional role — such as Receptionist or Security Officer — at a Location.
