Learn what a Visit Type controls, so you can decide which Visit Types your Location needs and how to set each one up.
What a Visit Type is
A Visit Type is a category assigned to a visit, such as Visitor, Vendor, or Contractor. It's selected when the visit is scheduled. A walk-in visitor (an Unscheduled Visitor) chooses a Visit Type at the Kiosk when they check in.
Each Visit Type decides what information the visit collects and what the visitor sees at check-in. That lets you ask different visitors for different things. For example, you might ask vendors for their company name and ask contractors to sign a safety document.
Visit Types belong to a Location
Visit Types are set up for each Location, not shared across your account. Two Locations can offer different Visit Types, so a Visit Type you see at one Location may not exist at another. Global Admins and Local Admins create and manage the Visit Types for a Location.
Each Location also has a default Visit Type, which you can change.
What you can set on a Visit Type
- Name and description: The name visitors see, plus an internal description only admins see.
- Sign-in fields: Extra fields such as Host, Phone, Email, and Company Name, each required or optional. Every visitor gives at least a first and last name.
- Custom fields: Your own questions. At Kiosk check-in, each custom field appears on its own screen after the registration form.
- Visitor Badge: Up to seven items to print on the badge.
- A document or a Video Acknowledgment: A document to sign, such as a non-disclosure agreement, or a video the visitor watches and acknowledges.
- A destination: A requirement for the visitor to choose where they're going at Kiosk check-in.
- Check-in messages: The messages the Kiosk shows after a check-in succeeds or fails.
- Citizenship and state of residency: Optional fields the visitor fills in at check-in.
What isn't set on a Visit Type
Visitor Photo is turned on for each Kiosk, not for each Visit Type. The list of Citizenship options is fixed across SV3 Enterprise and can't be changed.
