Use the push method of Directory Sync to keep your SV3 Enterprise users up to date from Active Directory, with a PowerShell script that sets up your Locations in Active Directory for you.
Before you start
- Give each Location a Location Key. See how to edit Location details.
- Have your Active Directory connection details: the server URL (for example
ldaps://ldap.host.address:636), a service account and its password, and the Search Base DN where your users are stored.
Steps
- Point to the Settings icon on the left side of the window, and then click Integrations.
- Click Configure for Directory Sync.
- Click Download powershell script. You run this script on your Active Directory server later.
- Under Server Configuration, in URL, enter the address of your Active Directory server.
- In Service Account, enter the service account name.
- In Service Account Password, enter the password.
- In Search Base DN, enter the DN where your users are stored.
- Click Test Connection to confirm the settings are correct. [CONFIRM: whether to click Save first]
- At the bottom of the page, click Sync Now.
Tip: To set up groups by hand instead of with the script, click Download a security groups sample file. The CSV file lists the User Authorities and Location Key for each Location. Edit it and upload it to Active Directory.
Result
SV3 Enterprise syncs users from Active Directory, adding them to the system as Standard Users. You can then manually adjust their Role to Receptionist, Security Officer, etc. as necessary.
Next, run the PowerShell script to load your Locations and assign users to them.
Note: Directory Sync only adds users. To remove users, see how to deactivate and delete users.
